Meet Our Team

Dr Jana Stevenson at Curtin Veterinary Clinic Canberra

Dr Jana graduated from Murdoch University Perth, in 1992. Member of the Australian Veterinary Association.  Member of the Australian Small Animal Veterinary Association.

Dr Jana has felt an affinity with pets all her life and a dream came true when she was accepted into the veterinary degree in 1988. Upon graduating, she gained her first work placement in a small rural community in WA, where she saw an extremely varied and interesting case load. Here she developed a passion for surgery, inspired by her boss, who was an experienced orthopaedic veterinary surgeon and was very eager to share his knowledge.  Over the years Dr Jana has regularly attended courses, seminars and practical workshops to keep up to date with the very fast changing area of veterinary science. During that time she has developed a specific interest in orthopaedics, oncology, endocrinology, feline and canine medicine and animal behaviour.

She is a great believer in giving owners all options of treating a particular case and being there to give support and help make their decisions easier. It is her mission to give the best possible veterinary service to her clients, to gain their trust, to respect their needs and feelings and to do the best possible for their pets.

Dr Jana’s love of her life was Snoopy the Beagle, who features as the mascot of the clinic and sadly passed away at 13 years of age in December 2016.  Hugo the Boxer takes a pretty close second spot though and is her constant companion, coming to work with her nearly every day. Jana adopted Max, a Deerhound Cross from ARF in 2017. She lives with hubby Martin, who grew up in Curtin and is a true local, and has two grown up sons.

Dr Erin graduated from Charles Sturt University in 2011. She spent her childhood on a farm and went to school in Orange, NSW.  Dr Erin worked full time as a veterinarian in Canberra after graduation, before moving with her husband to Brisbane in 2013 where she lived for three years.  (During which time she became a mum!).  On her return to Canberra she joined our team in February 2016.

Dr Erin particularly enjoys canine and feline medicine, including geriatric animal health and management, endocrinology, and animal behaviour.  Erin lives with her husband Rodney, their two little boys and Tip the Kelpie. When she isn’t at work, Erin enjoys getting out and about in the great outdoors, reading books, and chasing after her energetic toddlers!

Dr Jenny joined our team in June 2017. Originally from Canada, Jenny has long called Australia home.  She graduated from Murdoch University Veterinary School in Perth with Honours in 2001.

Jenny’s love of both animals and travel has given her the chance to live and work in a number of countries, including a stint in New York City treating some celebrity pets and then several years in Kenya and Ethiopia.   She is not sure what she is most proud of – surviving twin daughters, climbing Kilimanjaro or being able to order coffee in 10 different languages!

Jenny moved to Curtin with her family late last year joining our wonderful Curtin community. Her twin girls attend the local Holy Trinity Primary School. Jenny’s special veterinary interests include surgery, dentistry, dermatology and ultrasonography.  In 2009 she was admitted as a Member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (MANZCVS), giving her advanced qualifications in Internal Medicine.

GEORGIA (Vet Nurse)

Georgia grew up in Canberra and has been in the vet industry since July 2016 and completed her vet nurse certficate IV at the end of 2017, and since has developed a flare for assisting the vets in surgeries, helping recover patients and monitoring them.

Georgia started out with volunteering for the RSPCA, which gave her an insight into the veterinary industry and from that knew this was going to be her career path.  This is where she found her pride and joy, Bella the Staffy.  Together they have done dog obedience, go bush walking and both love coming to the Curtin Vet Walking Club.  In her spare time Georgia loves going to music concerts and going to the gym. She loves adrenaline sports like shark diving, canyon swinging and skydiving.

EBONY (Senior Vet Nurse) Curtin Veterinary Clinic

EBONY (Vet Nurse)

I completed my certificate IV in veterinary nursing in 2012. It started off with volunteer work at the RSPCA in the veterinary and wildlife clinic. I soon discovered that this was the path I wanted to take. I’m so glad now that I did, because being a veterinary nurse is one of the most rewarding jobs.  I love spending time at reception and giving advice to our customers.  I also enjoy helping with surgeries. Wildlife rescue is my passion, and I’m usually the first nurse to check out any injured wildlife that comes through our doors.

As you can see in my photo I have a green cheeked Conure, his name is “Jay Jay “as naughty as he is, he brings so much light to my life.
In my spare time I love hanging with my family and friends. I love travelling and exploring new things. I’m also a pescetarian so I love trying new foods and being creative in the kitchen.  I love being a Veterinary Nurse for so many reasons but mostly it has helped me become the person I am today.
